1. The Voronet monastery is one of the most valuable creations of Stefan the Great. This voronet monastery was build out of gratitude for hermit Daniil of Voronet for the advice given in the time of battles with Turkish people. The Voronet monastery is located in a small village with the same name, just 4 km outside Gura Humorului. Even though the work for the church was completed by 1488, the first documentary certification for the monastery is on 20 January 1472. On the spot of the present church there used to be a wood made hermitage, and the new church, with  St. Gheorghe as patron, is one of the most renowned and visited churches in Romania. It's cultural and spiritual values are increased by the beautiful exterior frescoes and the paintings showing the famous color "Voronet blue".

2. The Moldovita monastery is located at just 14 km of the Vama village. The first moldovitachurch here was build under the reign of Alexandru cel Bun in 1402-1410, but the monastery lasted only until the 15th century, when, because of land sliding, it collapsed. You can still see today the ruins of that church a few hundred metres from the actual monastery. IN 1532, Petru Rares changed the location and built the new church, but under the same patron as the old church, Buna Vestire. This new building resembles a fortress, surrounded by tall defense walls and towers. The Moldovita Monastery was an important center of culture. It used to be the place where church books were being written and designed, also manuscripts. There are many treasured items here like: embroideries, manuscripts, icons and the stall of Petru Rares. The Monastery is impressive in its architectural designs: triconical plan, five rooms with walls between them connected by big middle doors, different vaulting system for each room, and many other elements of gothic influence.

3. The Putna Monastery is an important orthodox center and one of the greatest cultural, putnaartistic and spiritual places of Moldova. It was build under the reign of Stefan the Great, between 1466 and 1469. The monastery is 33 km outside Radauti city, in the north of Moldova. This used to be a place to copy manuscripts and fabricate impressive miniature things. The monastery has inside a great museum where you can admire embroideries, paintings, manuscripts and other religious items.

4. The Sucevita monastery is the only one in the group of churches with exterior painting sucevitain Bucovina that still has its northern wing. In this part there is a representation of a scene called "The stairway of virtues", the most impressive by its size and the contrast between the order of the angels and the chaos of the devil. This is a great place to visit for those passionate by medieval art, because they can find religious, defence and civilian architecture, miniature manuscripts, embroideries, paintings, wood and stone sculptures, silver items.

5. The Arbore Monastery. In 1503 Luca Arbore built a church in the village that today arborewares the same name. It was conceived and built in a simple form, as a long church that amazes by its great styling.

6. The Bogdana Monastery. It s is situated on the valley of the Trotus river, next to the bogdanaforest. It was built by Solomon Barladeanu and is wife Ana.
The monastery is in Radauti city, and holds the graves of many Moldavian rulers and their families : Bogdan the 1st, Latcu voievod, Stefan the 1st, Roman the 1st, Lady Stana (wife of Bogdan the 3rd), Bogdan - son of Alexandru cel Bun, the mother of Stefanita voda and Anastasia (daughter of Latcu).

7. The Dragomirna Monastery is build within a fortress. It is surrounded by a massive dragomirnaconfers forest and nearby there is a lake. The place is distinguished by the age it has, by the style originality, the elegance and firm shape, the great views. Beyond the beauty of the scenery, you will be amazed by all the geometrical shapes and refinement of lines, other than in the rest of the medieval monasteries.


8. The Humor Monastery. The architecture of the sacred monument of Humor is an humorinteresting thing to observe. IT is the first time when the pattern of building medieval churches is altered. Above the room of the graves, there is now a new room. A room called tainita.
Otherwise, this monastery still has the traditional style of painting order, with small exceptions.

9. The Rasca Monastery presents an ensemble of items good to be checked on your rascavisiting list. IN 1512 Bogdan the 3rd build the cells; in 1540 the Bishop of Roman, Macarie, with Ioan and Teodor Bals, raised the church under the patron of St. Nicholas. Under the reign of Petru Rares, tall and strong defense walls were built around the monastery by 1542. The church is small, with golden rich frescoes. Between 1611 and 1617, Costea Bacioc added an imposing exonartex and the building became considerably bigger. In the church you can find old icons and funeral stones from the 15th century.

10. The Probota Monastery is located in the village with the same name in Suceava probotaCounty.
The name of the monastery, built under the reign of Petru Rares, has Slavic origins, and it means brotherhood.
The building of the place took almost 20 years, from 1530 until 1550.
